The Mobile Infrastructure Forum (MIF) is delighted to see the Rt Hon Ian Murray MP take on the role of Minister for Telecoms. We are reassured that his prior leadership of digital and telecommunications policy will enable him to immediately understand the sector's operational landscape. MIF’s participant companies—Cellnex, Cornerstone, MBNL, and the Wireless Infrastructure Group—stand ready to support the Minister and his team to help turn national digital ambitions into physical infrastructure on the ground.

Accelerating network rollout requires immediate, coordinated action to establish the right operational and regulatory framework. MIF is keen to partner with the Government to foster balanced landlord-industry relations, ensure building safety regulations function smoothly for high-rise and rooftop installations, and resolve ongoing access challenges. Delivering this deployment framework also demands strong alignment with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to modernise planning rules and remove persistent barriers to building shared macro sites.

Shared mobile infrastructure is the foundation of the modern digital economy. By making network deployment an urgent priority and tackling these site-level barriers, government and industry can unlock vital infrastructure investment, expand nationwide capacity, and enable the Government to deliver on its commitment to driving growth for every postcode.
