MIF notes the publication of the cross party House of Lords Committee report and its recommendations regarding:
Clearer guidance on compliance and evidence standards
Need for adequate resourcing of the BSR
Removal of small works and/or development of a streamlined process for these
Need for Long term funding and training of additional inspectors
Jonathan Freeman, Chair of Mobile Infrastructure Forum, said:
“Robust processes and adequate resourcing of the Building Safety Regulator are essential to accelerate the UK’s digital infrastructure upgrades in a safe manner. We welcome the Committee’s recommendations and call on the Government to act with urgency to resolve the issues identified.”
The Mobile Infrastructure Forum (MIF) continues to work closely with Government and the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) to ensure robust resourcing, streamlined processes, clear scope definition, and the adoption of ‘gold-standard’ application forms.
In addition, MIF is working in partnership with MobileUK and the wider mobile network deployment ecosystem to foster collaboration across suppliers, the construction industry, and landlords—ensuring a unified approach to accelerating connectivity and delivering best-in-class outcomes for communities.
